Biography

Dr Chris Fitchett is an Associate Professor at the School of Physical & Chemical Sciences, University of Canterbury.

Research interests

We are interested in the synthesis of new organic molecules, particularly focusing on large flat mostly carbon-based molecules called heterographenes. These molecules are conduct electricity and absorb light, making them ideal components for organic solar cells, and are highly coloured making the useful as active components in OLED displays.

Our research is currently focused on the synthesis and materials properties of large non-carbon atom containing graphenes and how we can exploit these by controlling their aggregation.
