Event details

The topic for this year’s MacDiarmid Institute Regional Lecture Series is Good news for a change: Sustainability Tech in Aotearoa New Zealand and the science behind it.

In association with Cawthron Inspire Festival, the Nelson Branch of the Royal Society and Garin College, join us in Nelson on 31st of August, when Paul Kruger and Courtney Ennis talk about some of the things happening within the sustainability tech ecosystem, such as exciting new sustainability technology, based on deep science, that’s making its way into the world with clear potential to address some of the challenges we’re facing.

Professor Paul Kruger is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Canterbury and a Principal Investigator in the MacDiarmid Institute. His research interests are centred in Supramolecular Chemistry with an emphasis on investigating Metalorganic Frameworks (MOFs) for carbon capture and energy transfer.

Dr Courtney Ennis is a Senior Lecturer of Chemistry at the University of Otago and an Associate Investigator in the MacDiarmid Institute. His research is focussed on the vibrational signatures of crystalline materials, such as metallic- and hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks, specifically how these signals are altered under changing environment and with the uptake of adsorbed gases.

Not in Nelson? We're also hosting this event in Hawke's Bay (7 August), Wanaka (11 August), and Tauranga (21 August).

Otherwise let us know where you'd like us to visit next!
