Dr Prasanth Gupta completed his PhD with the Victoria University of Wellington and GNS Science in 2017. His doctoral work was focused on synthesis of novel transition metal-based nanoparticles in carbon matrices by ion beam engineering and studying their resultant structural and magnetic properties. During his PhD he worked part-time in GNS Science to develop isotopically pure silicon for quantum computing. He now works as a scientist at the Materials Team of GNS Science. He has worked on several MBIE-funded projects with applications targeting development of novel materials and innovative processes for sustainable low-carbon future.
Prasanth currently leads research in GNS Science to develop alternative catalysts to platinum in the hydrogen industry and design novel electrochemical systems for ammonia production. His core expertise lies in material synthesis and modification for catalytic applications, decorative and wear-resistant industrial coatings, novel magnetic field sensors and isotopically pure materials for quantum computing.
I work with ion beams, nanomaterials and electrocatalysts to contribute towards a clean and prosperous future.
