Sci Fi/Sci Fact: Venom and the Spiderman Symbiote

In the Spiderman movie franchises, our hero came across an alien symbiote that took over his personality and caused him to act out of character. He shook off the parasite only to find it attached itself to journalist Eddie Brock and became a lethal enemy known as Venom.

Subsequently, Venom got his own franchise as a sort of anti-hero.
